Not so overtly, but there is still plenty of white-collar crime among them, restaurants and take-aways with poor hygiene, even Triad gangs. Comparing to violent crimes, theft, rape and general terrible behaviors, i would exchange 10 Asians for 1 African any day of the week, hypothetically.

Also, it may sound weird but i like the fact they have a very consistent level of intelligence, it's in a way relaxing you can almost never get an idiot in front of you (even compared to whites). It may well be the most differenciating trait compared to any other foreigner groups. Even if their culture can be really "alien" you can almost always relate to them intellectually, while with other groups it's like sorting out the good graying of the tares all the time (again including whites)

Brazil and Argentina have also many nice smaller/medium cities that are not violent and are clean, well organized. The big cities are a problem because of slums. What fucked up the cities of south Brazil was the massive internal migration from the north, then favelas grew exponentially over the last decades. Paulistas (naturals of Sao Paulo state) of several generations are majority of portuguese and italian ancestry, they have a slang term for favelas, call it "invasão" (invasion).

Uruguay is a nice peaceful country, I haven't seen slums and the coastline from Montevideo to Punta del Este seems a really nice place to live, similar to the mediterranean coast or adriatic.

Just talking about my experience of the countries I know in south America, wich are also the ones with larger % of euro-descendants, the others I don't know.

Portugal was a crap country before EU gave it a lot of money. Due to that it must now be somewhat better than before.
Also you are lucky to have an Indian origin prime minister otherwise you would be in much worse shape.

Haven't you also visited Northeastern Brazil, Cuba and PR, from what I recall you saying? What did you think of them?

Cuba not yet, I've been to the Dominican Republic 2 times and I know several islands on the caribean.

NE Brazil is a shithole, but there are nice tropical places for holidays and pockets of wealth in the big cities, but too 3rd world for my taste.

PR has a much better infrastructure than other caribean countries, american money/influence is visible.

You guys cant hide that both Portugal and Spain were poor countries with primitive agriculture, bad roads, bad housing, most people had no toilets until they joined EU which gave them a lot of money for improvement.
