Dutch and Germans: which language do you use when visiting each others' nations?
(1) English as a 'neutral' language.
(2) The language of the country in question.
(3) Your own language, but spoken more slowly than usual.

It depends on how deep in Germany you go. In the borderlands you use Dutch or German or mix it up. Dialect-speakers just speak their own dialect as the dialects are the same anyway. Deeper into Germany, I have been using English. I have heard Germans who use here speak their own language, quite a few of them also speak Dutch but some speak English. I have heard everything in every possible combination.

when I've been with Dutch and Germans they speak to each other in English
Nordisch-Westisch or Westisch mit Nordische einschlag

well I've never heard them speak to each other in any other language apart from English

Mostly German. As most Dutch can speak German but Germans can't speak Dutch. When I speak English and they realize I'm from Germany they start speaking German by themselves (from my experience)
