Its a real disgrace tbh, portraying European historical figures as black people is an insult to the historical figures and the black community at the same time.

I don't care that much about fictional characters, because they're not depicting real people. It's more about artistic interpretation in that case. But when it comes to historical figures, the people in charge of casting need to stay as close to the source material as possible. It's disrespectful to not do so, because you're erasing a part of who that person was.
Whether it's an African, European, Asian, Native American, etc.—historical figures should be portrayed by people who resemble their likeness. Also, a lot of people who approve of this kind of casting would freak the fuck out if a white person played the role of someone who wasn't historically white. And rightfully so—however, they're hypocrites if they approve of the examples given above and disapprove of a white person playing someone who wasn't white.

I think people need to do a bit of research before buying into conspiracy theories. There would be nothing wrong with Beethoven being of African descent if he was of African descent.

I think people should celebrate musicians who were known to be of African descent, and might not have had as much of a spotlight as Beethoven did. Nobody should be distracted by a theory that many experts have refuted. Let's focus on bringing the lesser-known musicians to light.
