Default Which countries outside England have the most pseudo English-sounding people?

    (1) Among the three Celtic nations, I'd say Wales has the most and Ireland the fewest. (I know this from firsthand experience).

    (2) Among other E1L nations, I'd say Australia, New Zealand and even South Africa have far more than do Canada and the USA. In the Caribbean countries it would be rare.

    (3) Elsewhere in the world, you can occasionally find people with English accents in countries like India and Nigeria, though I doubt their numbers are substantial anywhere.

Except no one here greets each other with "Good day" or talks about "barbies" or "brekkie".

Upper class people from Sydney's eastern suburbs are always pretty well spoken with a lighter aussie accent.

White South Africans and Rhodesians can have lighter well spoken accent, quite pleasant to listen to, or a harsher more guttural way of speaking.

Class has a lot to do with it I think, Private Schools are big in Australia for example, with posh Aussies sniffed at as 'rah rahs' by working class 'bogans' (think hicks with pick up trucks etc).

Accent strength depends on class a lot in places like Australia, of course this could be wrong!

Not only that - I also think that Aussies and even possibly (White) South Africans have much more of a 'colonial complex' compared to e.g. Americans - many still regard England as the 'motherland', even if their English ancestry is not that recent (though for many it is).

Yes despite the sporting rivalry Australians are quite intwined culturally I'd say, South Africans I've met tend to be more middle class and have afforded to emigrate, so maybe quite grateful

Yeah, Aussies and even some South Africans are way more British-influenced than Americans are.
