Default What Basque Sounds Like Compared to Other Languages

Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live.

Even if this were hard--that is how it is ! Assuredly, however, by far the harder fate is that which strikes the man who thinks he can overcome Nature, but in the last analysis only mocks her. Distress, misfortune, and diseases are her answer.

Sounds like Spanish but is made up of unfamiliar words for me.
And so it probably was - the phonetics of the Basque language (or those close to it) influenced Vulgar Latin, as a result, the Iberian Romance languages appeared.

Yea there is a lot of Spanish input into the language, the original language was probably a lot more alien sounding.

The words are alien, but both them and the spanish sound the same nowadays.

And many of words used are neologism from Batua "dialect", an unified modern version of Basque , as for example the word Euskera (basque language) in the past people used Basko/Baskua/Baskue, same for Euskadi/Euzkadi (Basque Country) or euskalduna (Basque person/who speaks Basque).

Other that could be neologisms used, not sure that were created modernly or were used in any Basque idiom(I am not any expert), are lorategi(garden)=lore(flower)+tegi(place) or jatetxe(restaurant)=jan(eat)+etxe(house).

Basque native speakers speaking in Basque, in Spain would sound as Spanish, and in France as French, because pronunciation is influenced by both languages.

There were people in the past, in some specific zones, whose Basque sounded less influenced by French or Spanish, there are still some, and they usually speak dialects.

Maybe Perikolez knows better what I am speaking about.

When I heard people speaking in Basque, first, they sound super artificial, it is pretty clear they use Basque as second language, and second, it sounds super primitive.

I am in favour of the protection and use of the basque language, i imagine the pre-celtic iberians speaking a language very similar to the basque.

There is a lot 'tz' in it, unlike in neighbouring languages.
