Default Why are Arabs so prone to infighting?

It seems that in all the Arab nations the people are virulently anti Israel and to a lesser extent anti American. Yet, 99% of fighting seems to be between countrymen. Even in countries in the midst of foreign occupation such as Lebanon in the 80s and Iraq in 2000s the people are killing and fighting each other with ridiculous devotion.

In the latest saga of this infighting, over 500,000 Syrians perished fighting other Syrians. What if all that blood was instead sacrificed fighting Israel which they claim to hate? What a different world it’d be. Forget the Golan heights they’d probably have taken Haifa by now.

Then there’s Iraq which was literally occupied by a foreign power and in its midst there was a civil war between Sunni and Shia. Now imagine instead if Iraqis had united and fought US soldiers with the same intensity they fought each other with? It’d probably have been a mini Viet Nam for America.

Can someone explain this? Why do they infight with such zeal

Most of the infighting these days is purely religious motivated, so Islam is the answer.

Im not aware of any conflict between Arabs the past 20 years that wasnt influenced by jihad.

Why would Iraq unify? Every country in the middle-east (except Iran) is artificial. If I was a Kurd I wouldnt want to unify with the arabs in the south and vice versa. In the middle-east it's impossible to build a style of nationism where you don't surpress a large chunk of the population.

Also I think Syria under Assad was one of the better examples in the ME sadly it got ruined by foreign influence and Jihadism.

In my opinion the whole Middle-east and it's borders need to get re-modelled.

They wouldn’t but they’d have at least taken some parts back and made life hell for them.

By the way I think Arab nationalism is part of the reason for extremism because Arab identity is so intertwined with Islamic identity that you cannot separate the two.

Arab nationalism has therefore been an abject failure wherever it has been tried such as Libya, Egypt, Syria, and Iraq and its cause it almost always leads to Saudi style Wahhabism which is exactly what happened in those countries.

Clearly other than the Kurds the people do not want to secede. They want full control over the country instead of breaking it up. It’s a massive quagmire made worse by the fact that the capital city was historically Sunni and is currently majority Shia. Both would want to claim it.

The Kurds are almost like 30% of the population though. Then there is the religious split on top of that...

    LOL

The Sunnis damn sure want to secede, thats why the sunni towns were ISIS strongholds and alot of former secular sadam officers and generals were important figures of the Islamic state. Well they didint wanted to secede but pay back to the shias by killing them, thats even worse.

No, Kurds are like 20%. They could secede but the problems that Iraq faces will continue cause the main issue is sectarianism.
