Chris Squire was a quite interesting player with his distorted Rickenbacker sounds and his intricate melodic phrasings.
Roger Waters is a special case. He used to be just the opposite of Squire: clean, mellow, deep, warm tones, and as few notes as possible. His playing was more than basic, reduced to the barebone. But each single note he played with Pink Floyd sounded like a unique event of cosmical resonance.
(Yes, I'm a die-hard Pink Floyd fan)
John Entwistle was, is, and will forever remain the greatest. Period.
