All Serbs, despite of geographic region, have almost similar percentage of proto-Slav and paleo-Balkan genetic heritage (cca 55%-45%).

Serbs of todays Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, even have few percent higher proto-Slav heritage than rest of Serbs, but these differences are minimal.

Yes, I know that, and so does the author ("This may indicate that population was strongly Slavisised already in the Middle Ages."). I think she's talking about them having kept the Vlach identity stronger than in other regions, so I'm wondering if there's any truth to that.

I doubt it. Bosnian muslims traditionally called orthodox population of Bosnia Vlach long before 20th century. Catholics were collectivelly called Šokci and muslims Turks.

Also historical documents speak of settlement of orthodox Vlachs during Ottoman times to Croatian territories, and those orthodox Vlachs were said to come from Bosnia.

Those people were orthodox Slavs (modern day Serbs) and not romance speakers, but they were called Vlach. Maybe because they were sheperds.

In any case, this association is historically correct. Vlach laws regulated settlment of Serbs in military frontier, not Slavic laws.

It seems to me Serbs try to blame Croats for this term but it is simply inmacurate.

Vlach theory was used by Croatian intelectuals to dehumanize Serbs, because these "intelectuals" considered Vlachs as subhumans. This was prelude to genocide against western Serbs in 1941-1945.

Orthodox Serbs were included in the vlach social class, together with various other Christian ethnic groups, including actual Vlachs.
