    Default Spanish ancestry in Brazil?

Do there exist any parts of Brazil where they have somewhat significant Spanish ancestry? I heard users here mention significant Portuguese ancestry in Spanish American countries lie Venezuela, so I'm wondering if there are parts of Brazil where there is a decent amount of Spanish ancestry. Besides Portuguese ancestry, I've heard a lot about German and North Italian ancestry in Brazil, but not about Spanish ancestry there. How common is it? Was there ever migration of a significant scale of Spaniards to Brazil? If Brazilians have Spanish ancestry, I guess it would be indirect Spanish ancestry from Spanish-speaking lands in the Americas. But would there be any Spanish ancestry directly from Spain at all?

Yes, in Rio Grande do Sul-State (gaúchos), influencing customs, music and food (barbecue), Brazil gaúchos currently are Pan-euro. Spanish migration was mainly to São Paulo-State, others were in Portuguese colonial cities difficult to track

Yes, Pelé. His parents were Basque, from the village of Gixajo.

Its a big thing everywhere, Sao Paulo, Parana and Bahia received a lot of recent spaniards, all the country has a lot of spanish colonial ancestry. I have some ancestors by father and mother that came from Galicia and Navarra to the colony.

Spanish surnames are also common in Brazil, they are mostly absorbed together with other iberian surnames. Spanish people were very absorbed by the white colonial mass since the first beggining, unlike italians or germans that at first created their onw villages.

I am curious about the surname Toledo, is it common in Portugal or its just another name common in Brazil but actually from Spain?

The spanish ancestry of Brazil is direct via Spain, maybe Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul have some spanish via our neighbors. You havent heard about spanish ancestry? Brazilians too. They are considered together as portugueses due to be very similar and rapidly desapeared inside groups already in Brazil for generations. Even them spaniards are very old in Brazil, they participated even in the expasion of Portuguese America during Iberian Union, so yes, its many centuries of absorption among us.

Not in Colombia. I think it's only significant in Venezuela, then at some distance comes Argentina and Uruguay.

Brazil, Uruguay and Venezuela have true portuguese ancestry, but Im almost sure Mexico and DR received significant new christian input via Portugal after they arrive from Spain.
