It's hard to say but under Dutch rule the majority of Dutch were naval and military personnel of the WIC. In the 1645 census there were 3,050 of these in New Holland. In 1644, there had been 4,000 but this was decreased further to 2,000 due to pressure to cut the WIC budget. Then in June of 1645 the Portuguese planters began a revolt against Dutch rule.

Not all WIC personnel were Dutch, however. Germans, Scandinavians and other Europeans were often recruited.The number of Dutch settlers remained low and they were outnumbered by the Portuguese, Africans and Indians. There were also some 1,450 Jews living in the region at their peak in 1645. But we know that after 1645 they began leaving the colony.

After a long siege, reinforcements of 6,000 soldiers and sailors arrived in Recife on March of 1648, but Recife capitulated in January 1654, and non-Catholics were given three months to leave the colony under terms of the truce.

In the period know as Iberian-Union, Spanish people started to migrate to settle more frequently, if colonials dig far enough they may find some spanish. I for once am a descendant of a 'Miguel García' (from Sevilla) way up there in the mid 1600s, it's not uncommon

Unfortunatelly, Spanish immigration is overlooked in Brazil.

Spanish immigrants were the third largest ethnic group to immigrate to Brazil in the XIX and XX centuries, behind only Portuguese and Italians, and more numerous than Germans and Japanese, but these latter two are way more commented than the Spanish.

The colonies were utile to deport undesirables, lots of jews, criminals and gipsies were used to colonize Brazil. Gipsies were not even allowed to become citizens until the mid 19th century and they were systematically deported, that's why we have much less calés than you but now everyone is Portuguese.
