I believe in Japan only Sashimi is meant to be eaten with chopsticks and all other forms of Sushi are meant to be eaten with your hands. I think that is the etiquette in there.

I am addmitedly a bit clumsy when eating with chopsticks (especially when loose rice is involved) but I stick to it whenever eating Asian food. I need more practice. What I like about chopsticks is that it slows down my pace, allowing me to enjoy my meal in a more fulfilling manner. Unfortunately in most of the Western world we have grown accustomed to stuff down the throat our meals with our tight schedules and short lunch breaks.

I prefer a fork. I wanna shovel that fried rice in, at unhealthy intervals.

Even if this were hard--that is how it is ! Assuredly, however, by far the harder fate is that which strikes the man who thinks he can overcome Nature, but in the last analysis only mocks her. Distress, misfortune, and diseases are her answer.

I've heard about this, but sushi is so convenient to eat with chopsticks, I don't mind eating other asian food with chopsticks like spring rolls and wonton. Damn I miss Asian food, haven't had it in a while.

The only thing I eat with hand is pizza and chicken wings, everything else I use fork/spoon.

I do not eat sushi with my hands too, only with chopsticks. I am not in Japan afterwall, plus most Japanese would find awkward our westernised version of sushi, with Philadelphia cream cheese, strawberries and what not Unless of course, you only eat authentic sushi.

Same. For all the rest spoon, fork and knife.

I have a Japanese place close to work where I (used to) eat sushi every week, I might be eating the authentic fare. The do have California rolls. Simple place, great food.

I am sure it is easier to find authentic Japanese cuisine in America. In here most Sushi restaurants are actually run by the Chinese diaspora. There is also a few restaurants with authentic sushi being prepared by accredited and specialized chefs in Japanese cuisine but that will cost more (easily 40€ per person instead of 12€ all you can eat sushi buffet).

Also the fact people from some chopsticks countries tend to eat with the mouth open doesn’t help.

I was never so proud as when my daughter picked up a pair of chopsticks and began to eat with them on her own recently. She has minor developmental issues, so seeing it just brought a tear to my eyes.
I like eating Asian food with chopsticks. I am quite adept with them. I prefer forks and spooks for most other stuff. I hate eating with my hands. Hate it. I only eat "chicken wings, pizza" and finger foods (like chips and whatnot) with my hands. Eveyrthing else - NO!
