not really true you can maybe reach 99% of the speed of light but you will never be able to reach 100% because your weight becomes infinite and so you need to provide an infinite source of energy and nuclear energy in that case can't help. Only massless particles can reach the speed of the light and nothing else.

People often think only about speed and not about acceleration or inertia. There are no hypothetical inertial dampers and artificial gravity sources like on Star Trek that enable people to walk freely while ship is going up and down, left and right. Imagine going 250000km/s and something happens to engines. You'd end up something like this guy
