I think K-pop should have remained a more cheesy and uncool genre like italo disco or eurobeat, that attempts to be imitate Americans but that remains more pure-hearted and not serious.
Instead they did a too good job imitating whites, and they ended up becoming one of the main importers of white degeneracy to East Asia. And they somehow popularized the zombie-eyed Churkasoid look even among East Asians.
Anyway, I used to like songs produced by Brave Brothers (Kang Dong-chul), like this song from 2007. He was one of the first K-pop producers who made the kind of fully electronic-sounding songs that made use of sounds like supersaw trance leads.
