Colonial Spaniards (Spaniards, not Iberians, which would include Portuguese and they have nothing to do here) that remained in USA when Florida, Texas, Lousiana or California when were annexed, were THOUSANDS.

The colonial Iberians who migrated to the south were from California, Texas and New Mexico, then the USA took those parts of Mexico.

I have no idea about Spaniards migrating to the south (Carolinas, etc), I think that did not happen. When Florida, Lousiana, Texas etc were stolen by USA many Spaniards remained there, others returned to Cuba. It is very well documented.
