Finnish ancestry is indeed far more prevalent than Saami in Sweden, but it is easy to differentiate Swedish(rather Scandinavian) from Finnish admixture.

Fennoscandian is essentially Savo-Karelian component. It peaks in Eastern Finland.

Gustav Vasa promised that people who colonize Kainuu (North East Finland) would be forever freed from paying taxes as long as they uphold a rajakomppania, a boarder company; some sort of military presence there. My family took up on this offer and is mentioned among the first Finnish (?) or Savonian settlers of Kainuu. But now I'm not sure what they were as according to great intelligent bloke, mr Lemminkäinen, these people were not Finnish.

So Savonians are not Finnish or just Karelians are not Finnish.

Savolaksfinnars are descendants of Orthodox Russian Karelians an Saami people, which can be proven by genetics. They multiplied by the slash and burn farming method, which was a hugely wasteful way of farming and destroyed large forest areas in East Finland and this destruction of nature was a main reason why Sweden sent Swedish Savolaksfinnars to America and gave then a temporaly outlaw status in Sweden.

The overpopulation led to destruction of eastern forests and forced them to migrate to Western Finland, Ostrobothnia.

Freedom of paying taxes was not for ever. I can't now remember the exact law form, I can find it from my book shell including 3 meter Finnish history books. Savonians are a new population, Karelians were once upon time Finnish, but allied later with Russians and tried to occupy Finland under Russian command.

Lol, as I wrote, read the Wiki article, Savolsksfins are a mixyure of Karelians and Saamis.

Still in the GNW Russian side Karelians, only Katelians st yhat time, were Russian allies robbing and burning Finland. There was no Karelian in Finland after Viaborg was lost to Russia. Karelians were opportunists and went to Russian side soon they found it useful.
