That's your personal observation though, it's not a fact with data behind it. The differences between East and West maybe overblown but there is at least data to say that Eastern counties are generally lighter haired than Western, and moreover that is fairly predictable and logical. Upper/Middle classes being 'a lot' more 'Germanic' looking than lower classes of the same ethnicity is not.

Here is a group from Devon

    One from Suffolk

I see little difference really though the ones from Devon seem a bit paler and less continental looking

I do agree, the differences arent huge, but they are there, towns like bodmin or penzance, which havent had many second home buyers/still mainly locals you can see a difference

A more defined 'Germanic' type is still quite frequently present, but just visiting London isn't a fair way of judging how 'Germanic' looking English people can be.

London is less than 50% white now, it is a foreign land, a lot of people that work there commute in on the train from Kent, Surrey, Essex etc

To live in London you have to be super rich, to afford the nice areas, there are some nice parts but in general I don't like going there anymore, London is Mordor

I don't doubt the differences between East and West English are very small, almost indistinguishable. I've never said otherwise. The differences datawise are small percentages.

I'm wary of any sweeping statement about the inborn differences among English, when it is such a relatively homogenous and outbred nation. Especially in modern times.

I think most people in remote regions like Devon or Northumberland still have surnames that are local to the area, any search of surnames will show that some are much more common in certain regions, like my English surname is much more common in Lincolnshire than any other part of England so you can say that there has been little movement since the time of the Normans and well before that probably. Even George Orwell remarked that the English differ little from region to region unlike other European nations especially the French, i think what is the case in England and something that Coon wrote about is that you can find small regions where dark or light hair predominates, i think that is the case and the east to west division is not as major as the one you will find in some other European countries.
