Depending on the context, there is obviously always a "better religion". Like being Catholic in the Balkans meaning an improvement to being Orthodox; or being Protestant in the Central European context being seen as better than being Catholic.
Catholic southern regions in Germany are wealthier than the less catholic northern regions... Also, North Italy and France are catholic and they've been among richest and most influental european regions for a long time. Catholicism is dominant religion among the dutch too. The English too have catholics. Switzerland's biggest religious affiliation is catholicism. So I'm not sure if being protestant is an upgrade compared to catholicism.

I don't think random Croats and Germans from Croatia and Germany respectively are as interested in this thread.
    I am Hungarian citizen too.

Distributing citizenship to Catholic Slavs says a lot about Orban's so called right wing views. He is likely medievalist revivalist.
His nation conception is likely shaped around forming a Catholic Ummah, group of believers, identified through Vatican affiliation. Like Islamists but in Catholic version.
A bit like how it worked in Franz Ferdinand's Habsburg Realm.

It is not a surprise Hungarians are not so ''Magyar'' anymore. Not anymore since Lehel was defeated by Otto.

That's Hungarian problem of course, their country their matter. None of our business.
Yet we look from Turkic Council perspective here.
What does such a country has to do with Turkic Council?

Even Slavic-speaking Bulgaria would fit much better than Hungary into the Turkic Council.

Orbán himself is a calvinist. According to hungarian constitution hungary has a christian culture, not catholic specifically.

Hungarian citizenship is extremely easy to get for people with ancestors born in Lands of Crown of St Stephen. I speak Hungarian on conversational level btw, but language interview for citizenship is a joke.

You speak lot of crap. Thousands of orthodox Serbs from Vojvodina got Hungarian citizenship to work in EU more easily because Hungary is making it easy to get Hungarian passports for Hungarians outside of Hungary. But non Hungarians living in these territories get it with no problem if their ancestors lived there and if they speak most basic Hungarian.

It is none of my business, nor I care. I simply used your statement within the topic context and as to the question of who Orban is in reality. I did not mean to attack or belittle you, don't take it bad.

Orban is power hungry opportunist and extremely talented politican who is currently a nationalist.
Hungary is distributing it's passports outside of Hungary because of millions of Hungarians who were left out after treaty of Trianon but citizenship law is quite loose and you don't need to be ethnic Hungarian to get citizenship easily if you fulfill criteria I mentioned above.

Due to this Slovakia prohibits dual citizenship because they fear Hungarians of southern Slovakia will get Hungarian passports en masee and have more leverage for separatism.
