    I’m bilingual, both are pretty removed from Italian, I can’t grasp much of a Portuguese speech, but it’s still closer to italian than romanian, imo.

    Brazilian Portuguese (especially in the southern half accents) has Italian influence on many words and expressions, also is more melodic like Italian. European Portuguese is more harsh sounding.

    Exactly,it seems to me like if brazilians articulate the words a lot and that makes the language more understandable,at least for a native speaker of another latin language like me......

    Brazilians speak vowels longer and wider, while Portuguese pronounce the words with a more closed mouth.

    In writting i guess portuguese is easier to understand for italians.
