I am seriously thinking of joining the French Legion.

What are the specific specifications? Does anyone have an any way of experience, or heard experience?

I spent years wanting to join the FFL-- but at the time it was difficult to find out how to do it, based only on hearsay from friends, etc. Then I became too old.

You have a beautiful internet site where you can get all the information you need.

Forget get married and buy a car the next 5 years, choose a new name, (at least initially), and learn French, at least basic one, although they will "teach" some french there, better know it before.

Having previous military experience can help you get elected, and if you are racist, in the legion you will forget to be one, for your own good.

Oh, believe me, many of them are. But generally if you're fighting for France, you're fighting for Western Civilization (not to mention NATO interests), so it would be a stretch to call them mercenaries.

I've seen some documents also have Slovak friend family who was in FFL. Basically forget that you are what you are you loose your ethnicity, at the moment you sign up, you speak breathe and fight for the French. Everyone will talk to you only in French, even though they can speak different language, you will also take classes in French. You will become a unit where you will have to put your life for every single soilder and you are one of a kind. Also the entry requirements are much more strict than in history, you can't be a ex convict etc. You will have to fight for several years and then after I think 7 years? I'm not sure you can leave, you will obtain your new citizenship afaik.

Total bullshit, you are just a mercenary who fights for foreign country. You are basically being paid to kill, if that's a hero then I don't know. And I'm not talking about half of the guys in earlier stages were some ex convicts etc...

Geez guy, sorry I seem to hit a nerve. Loads of dudes from around the friggin' world join the US Army all the time.

..and in the NATO world, you're not paid to kill, you're paid to DEFEND.
