    Would you go?
I would feel safer in the most remote parts of Syria , then in 99.99% of democrat run hellhole cities over here in America

I doubt I ever will, it's a very politically unstable part of the world.

So, in a few days, I will go to Syria. I wish everything will be fine, because I had enough problems linked to that trip already. I’ve bought some presents for my host family. Indeed, I will not stay only in hotels. In Maaloula, I will stay in a Syrian family.

So, these are the presents I bought. I took Belgian specialities and an icon.

    - A bar of Newtree chocolate, a good Belgian commercial brand of organic chocolate, with very original tastes. And I know the founder of the brand.
    - A box of “orangettes”, sweets made with candied orange covered with chocolate. It’s made with bean-to-bar chocolate, by the great Belgian chocolate maker Frederic Blondeel.
    - A packet of babelutte sweets.
    - A beautiful box with almond biscuits, by the Belgian traditional biscuits brand Jules Destrooper. The box represents nuns in the Beguine convent of Bruges.
    - A box with cuberdons, maybe my favourite Belgian sweets.
    - And finally, a beautiful icon, handmade in France, including with gold leaves. I think it’s really gorgeous, I’m in love with the soothing emerald green of Mary’s coat.

Are my presents alright? I really wish the Syrian family will like my presents and I wish the chocolates won’t melt during the trip, before I give them…

I'd have chanced it around 11 to 15 years ago. Secular, though with a dominant culture. The cities were nice, food looked good, was fascinated with its old Christian traditions, though I'm not religious and I'd had pleasant exchanges with Syrians, so back then yes.

With the only exception of Tunisia, I'll never set foot in any muslim majority country willingly (maybe a diverted or connecting flight).
