Lebanon: is a “French mandate” legally possible, as a petition demands?

THE VERIFICATION - 50,000 people have already signed a request made to Emmanuel Macron to place Lebanon under “French mandate for the next 10 years”.

The Lebanese look to their " loving mother ". Since the explosion that ravaged Beirut last Tuesday, France, which is currently providing humanitarian aid, seems to have become the last hope for some citizens. A petition put online after the explosion that hit Beirut explains that “ Lebanese officials have clearly shown a total inability to secure and manage the country. With a failing system, corruption, terrorism and militias, the country has just reached its last breath. We believe that Lebanon must come back under French mandate in order to put in place a healthy and sustainable governance.". We do not yet know the authors of the petition, nor the identity of the signatories. But is an administration of Lebanon by France only possible under international law, and politically, what would it imply?

The terms used in the petition refer to the “ French Mandate in Syria and Lebanon ”, set up by the League of Nations in 1920 on the ruins of the Ottoman Empire after the end of the First World War. In application of secret agreements..

I think it's a great idea, France still has many colonies throughout the world, if France was to recolonize Lebanon, it could bring a western way of life to the Lebanese, increase the percentage of christianity, & Lebanon could become a overseas department of France.

I think France should take back Haiti as well.

In downtown Beirut there had been a mini civil war in 2016 which most people didn't hear about, it was covered and hidden from mass medias but which left around 1000 dead. Armed Maronite (Arabi speaking Levantine Catholics) Militants had stormed a neighborhood of Beirut populated by Shias and Alawites and faced tough resistance.

Things had calmed down later, since if Hezbollah intervened, they would have likely kicked the crap out of Maronites. It is obvious that Maronites and their French sponsors were preparing a show in behind the stage. Lebanese economy went nuts, currency devaluation crisis, food shortages, national unemployment reaching 50% level and finally this obvious bombing of Beirut.

It is not clear if the Franco-Maronite side operates in coordination with Israel and Mossad, but they gained ground. They created a relevant environment and now openly inviting the French army into Lebanon. Things might soon get nasty in Lebanon.

Just as Jews travel around the world with Swiss, German, Austrian etc passports, the Lebanese Maronites all have French passports. It was obvious that they would soon or late call their big French brothers into Lebanon. They also have historical ties with French dating back Crusades era.

Iran shall probably not leave her own satellite Hezbollah alone. Let's see what is going to happen.

Even if it was possible there would too much expenses and unrest from internal and external forces that it wouldn't be worth it for the French people that is. They basically want the French nation to carry the brunt of rebuilding their nation and leave once they are afloat allowing for an easy cruising ahead (in theory). And then there is the problem of dual citizenship. The French are quite overrun already with people from former colonies as it is.

I think we should make distinctive polls for Shiite Muslims, Sunni Muslims and Maronites about this issue. The results could be interesting. They just want to get rid of the Hezbollah. And the Jewish pseudo-elite which runs France and whom Micron is a servant as well. They just want to use France to take over Lebanon without make Israel's hands even more dirty. Prepare for a new Libya or Syria and so on.
