How many generations behind is 2.3% if you're already "mixed"?

I'm already different from both sides of the family, so how much a 2.3% could be back in generations? how many centuries ago? (let's say it in more simple words.)

Not really how genetic inheritance works. You inherit a random 50/50 from your parents, so if your parents are 95% Polish and 5% Irish you could turn out to be 20% Irish or 1% Irish, genetics can recombinate.

In a "perfect cut", let's say that:

50/50 = Mother and Father
25 = Grandfather/mother
12.5 = Great Grandfather/mother
6.25 = GG Grandfather/mother

Therefore, you would say that 3.x would be GGG Grandfather/mother. However, like Paleoeuropean said, things are not that exact, so...
