IQ seems to be inherited from both parents, similar to height. A study found that mothers with low IQs and fathers with gifted IQs produced children with average IQ. Like a short mother and a tall father usually produce an average height child.

grade of 70-85. For the purpose of analysis he considered in one group those
of their children whose fathers were of very low to medium ability (assessed at
IQ 65-100); another group consisted of the children whose fathers were of
high cognitive ability (assessed at IQ 120-145). but whose mothers belonged to
the group of low-grade IQ. There were 105 children in the first group. 67 in the
second. The children were subjected to a test of the Binet type. Those in the
first group showed a mean IQ of 88-6; in the second, 103-2. The difference in
IQ was thus 14-6 (standard error 21).

So the formula for IQ seems similar to the formula when calculating the predicted height of children.

However, I have yet to see a smart man with a stupid mother. I will keep paying close attention.

Also, the study shows that the intelligence of the mother is highly important, as barely any or even none of the children have reached the IQ of their fathers.

It's not that IQ is solely inherited by the mother, but the mother has a larger influence on the intelligence of the child than the father.

The data of the study is also very vague-there are no exact values, only estimates. We don't know the average IQ of these men and women, only their range, which is insignificant.

We would need to see a study with the exact opposite - smart mothers and dumb fathers - and their exact IQ instead of a vague range - and then we might come to a proper conclusion.

If the mean IQ of that group of children would be only moderately higher, which I think would be the case, that'd prove both Schopenhauers and Platos theories.

PS: That probably was not the real reason he didn't want to have children. He possibly knew that his Eva wasn't the smartest (she was known for throwing lots of parties and acting like a child) and it would have been inconsistent of his views (especially in regards to eugenics) to have a child with her. Maybe it was easier for him to proclaim himself a genius - and therefore die childless - than it was to call his beloved woman dumb.

I only mean like Hitler in his motives for picking dumber women, I don't want a woman sidetracking me in important matters, she only need to know how to use a firearm and take care of the home; I am not talking like stupid, just not obstructively smart.

A woman has to be smart, the father can be a bit less intelligent, that's no problem, as long as he is manly and of good character.

It would probably be for the best if the woman was slightly smarter (IQ-wise) than the man, as the man will make up for that with his rationality and logical mind that a woman will never be able to reach anyways.

She will always remain a woman and therefore less emotionally stable and intellectually honest, more "fluid" so to speak, no matter her theoretical intelligence on paper.

An IQ-85 male and an IQ-105 woman can be a great and harmonious couple and have intelligent children, possibly surpassing the mother in terms of intelligence.
