"Amerimutts" are not Mutts, unless they are Mixed race

Americans are mostly NW European, but all of those ethnicities are similar enough to make a more homogenized group. So, for example, there is hardly any difference between a German Alpine and one from France. Or someone from England vs Ireland. So therefor, the term "Amerimutt" is improperly used . The only time someone is a mutt, is from the result of race mixing, so if someone had white and black blood, or Indian or Oriental or something of that nature. That would be a "mutt". If you are European blended, you are not a mutt, you are non-ethnic. Just a little food for thought!

They aren't "mutts" if they are from one region, such as NW Europe. If they are part Slavic or mixed with Greek, or something that argument might hold. But if someone is a mix of German, Irish, French, and British Isles, they are not mutts. That is pretty much the same heritage.

It should be noted that in some cases, there are Americans which are a single ethnicity- especially in the Northeastern United States where "ethnic" neighborhoods thrived. Like the Kennedy family, for example, appeared to be pure Irish. Talk show host Conan O'Brien is another example.

Some people are 100% Irish, Italian, Polish, etc, but that usually only applies to people from New York City , Philadelphia, or Boston. Many settlers in the Midwest can claim Full German, but even then they are usually blended.

Many Europeans(from Europe) are euromutts themselves. In my country there are "ethnic hungarian" people who have 3, 4 or 5 different ethnicities among their recent ancestors. In Uk you have those English mixed with Irish, Scottish, Welsh etc. Many White French people have Polish, Italian, Iberian or German ancestors. I could go on.

White americans are a legit ethnicity. What I don't understand is when they have 4 different ancestries and identify with only one of them.

In Uk you have those English mixed Irish, Scottish, Welsh etc. Many White French people have Polish, Italian, Iberian or German ancestors. I could go on.

I mean this is true, but largely over the centuries there was a blending preference of one flavor of genetics over the other. So most Germans are Germanic heritage and the Irish are largely Celts, etc.

To most, an "ethnic" is the idea that someone is too much of one ethnicity, so that they take on exaggerated characteristics of said ethnicity. The loud mouthed I-talian. The angry Irishman. The style of dress and the phenotype as well. A Greek with a hairy chest and penchant for smashing plates. It also can imply people in the States who came from Non-English speaking countries. If you have a very English sounding name, you are thought of as being non-ethnic, in the sense of the prevailing culture.
