If your country's current capital would not exist, which city would be the new capital?

For example the capital of Hungary is Budapest, but if Budapest would not exist i think the new capital would be Székesfehérvár, because it was the early medieval capital of Hungary.

Brno. And if it would mean we would have to deal with all the tourists that otherwise go to Prague, then I'm pretty damn glad it exists.

Australia: Melbourne, it was the capital from 1901-1927.
England/Britain: Who knows, probably somewhere in the South East, maybe Winchester, Chelmsford, St Albans, Colchester? Maybe York if the Danes defeated Alfred in 878. It supposedly would have been Leeds if the Nazi's conquered Britain.
Ireland: Who knows, maybe Waterford or Wexford? Similar histories to Dublin.

Amsterdam is the constitutional capital but everything is in The Hague just as it was in the days of the Republic making it the de facto capital (Amsterdam only became the constitutional capital in 1816)- so it would probably be The Hague. Funny note: when they were making Flevoland, there were plans of moving the seat of government to Lelystad.
