East Asian fighting arts are generally quite different to the concept of western martial arts. They have a whole philosophy around them and a long history. They were initially developed by haplogroup C as a form of defense, hunting ability or playing.

Fighting systems of north C subclades have more emphasis on striking, punching and kicking while systems of south C subclades have more emphasis on grappling techniques.

Bökh refers to the traditional mongolian wrestling. Daurs are famous practitioners of it and they belong to C-M401.

Turks have their own version of wrestling called küreş which is spread in all central Asia.

Kung fu or Wushu refer to the various Chinese fighting systems and include a huge variety of branches, like Shaolin Kung fu and Wingchun.

Karate is an Okinawan fighting art based on Fujian Kung fu so it was placed under C-F3880.

Korean fighting arts include Taekkyon, Hapkido and Taekwondo and they have a lot of emphasis on kicking.

Muay Thai is a form of Indochina fighting system with a heavy emphasis on striking and kneeing.

Japanese fighting systems are centered around grappling techniques and they all trace their origin from native jujutsu, from which ninjutsu, aikido and judo also sprang.

Pankration or Pagkratio is a greek fighting art radically different to greco-roman wrestling and more similar to japanese grappling systems. It is doubtful one influenced the other on their early stages so it's probably due to this ancient common genetic background. C-V20 is part of the greek genome too, like rest of Europe and Anatolia. The meander symbol used in the art also resembles meanders in mongolian clothing.

Pencak silat refers to the countless native Indonesian fighting systems. They use both striking and grappling techniques, with western system having more striking techniques and eastern systems having more grappling techniques.
