I think this whole defend women concept is done for anyways. You have to be a dumb ass simp to put your life at risk defending some random person period doesn’t matter if it’s a man or woman. This also makes family ties stronger though. In the area where I grew up, it was quite normal for young couples to live only streets away from their respective parents (and often even on the same street and only two or three homes away) - or in the case of one being from some other town, they remained very close to the set of parents that were the nearest. They were the ones watching over the kids when the young couple works and often they eat dinner there as well. Of course - they also look after their parents and look for them and it's much the same in Italy.
