    Geographically, yes I think. But I feel like the term Balkan has more of a geopolitical connotation nowadays.

    That kind of implies that there is a cultural discontinuity between Greeks themselves. I may be wrong but I can't imagine a Greek person from one region feeling "closer" to a non-Greek person from the Balkans or Mediterranean region.

    well if you read what i said in the post, i said that I've always felt more mediterranean and closer to spaniards and italians bc im from peloponnese but my friend whose family is from northern Greece feels closer to the balkans

    No we are not. We are mainly Slavic and different world compared to Greeks, closer to Poles and Ukrainians than to them.

    There is no unified Balkan culture. Dalmatia is Med is it gets culturally/climatically/atchitecturally etc and last time I checked it was in SE Europe/Balkans.

    Balkan peninsula doesn't exist, it was mistake of German 19th century geographer but the name stuck. It's too widely connected to Eurasian landmass to fulfill criteria of a peninsula.
