What is the criteria to be European?

Phenotype? a good amount of turkish could pass in southern europe, in balkan countries and even some of them in central Europe.

Geography? A portion of the turkish territory is on the european continent.

Religion? some balkan countries are muslim but they are considered Europe.

History? a historical enemy of some European countries? Well most of the european countries have been killing each other during centuries.

Think about this tonight before going bed...Why Turkey is not Europe?...

How do you expect a 97% located-in-Asia country to be Europe? Yes, we have 3% of our lands in Europe and generally look no different than Southern Europeans but still can't be counted as Europe. Turkey is still counted as West Asian country

- As I said before, 97% of Turkey's lands are located in Asia, only 3% of them is in Europe.
- Turkey has too different mindset & culture than Europe.
- Yes, many Turks look no different than South Europeans but you can find South Euro-looking ones even in Afghanistan.
- Religion doesn't determine the race or continent, a blond White person can be Budhist or a Black person can be Catholic Christian

Also we're not anti-Western as some people say. Even most Turks admire the Western world

Yes I know what you mean...but...Albania, Bosnia and Kosovo are muslim but everybody consider them europeans.

About their location...what about Cyprus? a lost island in the Mediterranean Sea, closer to the Arab countries than to Europe but everybody consider Cyprus an European country.

Anti-european? well the vikings attacked the european continent during centuries. In the Middle Age muslims and vikings were the most antieuropean cultures...but everybody consider Scandinavian countries as europeans.
