Its not political, but cultural/social. Anatolian Greeks and cypriots lived in geographically asian countries but they were christian and Greko-roman, in other words what paul vallery defines as European. Did they have more asian influence than mainland Greeks and other Europeans? Likely. But not enough to associate them with asia
The only anatolian Greek population with trully anatolian/"Turkish like" phenotypes are those from pontos and cappadokia, but today they are clearly European
And so (European) are armenians and georgians2
