We are located at the point where the continents of Asia and Europe meet. Culturally, politically, religiously, ethnically and ideologically, Turkey is too mixed to be considered as only one thing. We are neither European nor Middle Eastern but influenced by both in some degree. Turkey is mostly Anatolian, that’s all.

Geography? A portion of the turkish territory is on the european continent.

And that portion of Turkish territory is considered Europe. I opened a poll a while back about if members here consider Balkan Turks to be European and most voted yes.

About their location...what about Cyprus? a lost island in the Mediterranean Sea, closer to the Arab countries than to Europe but everybody consider Cyprus an European country.

Anti-european? well the vikings attacked the european continent during centuries. In the Middle Age muslims and vikings were the most antieuropean cultures...but everybody consider Scandinavian countries as europeans.

Turkey is both genetically and culturally non-European. The Turkish identity is inherently anti-European. Europeans attacking each other don't do that because their opponents are Europeans or because they are themselves anti-European. Cyprus might be genetically closer to Levant than to Europe but they are culturally Europeans.
