Nothing looks exactly like in Portugal (there are actually tons of differences) but the original influence is obvious: similar proportions, the preference for white walls and darker surrounds around windows etc.

Similar parallels can be drawn between England and the oldest parts of American towns, or between Quebec and France.

Styles will mix with Portuguese colonial Brazil and after independence with French and Italian influence from the 19th century
