Do you play a musical instrument? Do you sing?

If you play an instrument, which one? Is musical education something important in your family? Do you go to concerts, to the opera?

As a child, I was initiated to piano, recorder and transverse flute, but I wasn’t assiduous and unfortunately I quickly abandoned. My knowledge in the musical field is very poor, but I’ve always enjoyed going to concerts, attending operas.

I play some piano/keyboard, some guitar, I created a theremin from broken radios and learned some and I also played the ocarina when I was autistic with Zelda.

I attend live shows now and then albeit more like basement Jazz than Opera.

I play the guitar, sing, and write songs. Unfortunately I have no formal music education, this is an ability I discovered and cultivated as an adult. But my lack of formal training/technical ability limits me to an extent that bothers me a little. Ironically, I think it has actually helped me in that I find solutions to musical problems that are unconventional, which I think, makes my songs more interesting. Still, I could benefit from a good one-on-one guitar teacher.


My son has so far tried Viola and Trumpet - he preferred Trumpet. But now, with Covid, the school year is a mess and he will not be doing an instrument for now.

My daughter has had Piano lessons in the past, but for various reasons that ended.


For me personally, my playing, singing, and writing is my core hobby/creative outlet in my life, it's an important part of me maintaining my sanity. I hope for my children that this can be something that they love too. And hopefully, they will both be able to read music proficiently, with good technical skills on an instrument.

I learned to play the flute from the age of 7, until I was about 11, but I haven’t played it in a long time since then. I could probably still play something with a little practice, I mainly played Hungarian folk songs on it.

As far as singing, unfortunately I was not gifted with a lovely tune lol

I used to play the flute, piano, and sing occasionally when I was younger but eventually I lost interest . Musical education is not a big thing in my family, I also have never been to a concert but I'm really hoping to go to one ;D.
