Here's the deeper breakdown for the J2 samples that could be tested deeper than J-M172.
As mentioned previously, the proportion of J2a to J2b is about 65% to 35%.

For the 9 J2 guys on YFull, 5 are J2a and 4 are J2b. You can click the subclade links to see whom they cluster with.

For those under J2a, 4 out of 5 fall under J2a-M92, with 2 of them moving further into L556.

For those under J2b, 3 out of 4 fall under J2b-Z2507, with 2 of them moving further into Z1295.

    Haplogroup Origin Subclade Country Location
    J2a YFull J-FT87369 ROU ROU
    J2a YFull J-BY68767 ROU ROU

Some studies don't go too deep, so it's hard to say to which subclade they belong to, but the one with 180 samples from Dolj for example did, and none of them were confirmed as Z2103. Some stopped at L23, so maybe that's the L23* that you are referring to?

Were Romania invaded by germanics in at some point? All the L2 belongs to U152 (is common in germanic peoples), U106 is strictly germanic, and U198 along with L48, belongs to U106, so this is obvius germanic influence, but could mean previus migrations like CWC (not sure). L21 is the most curious one, though is very related to gaels, some germanic peoples score this haplo, but this is celtic per se as far as i know.

The L23* is known as Z2103, is common in hitties, hellenic peoples, illyrians and armenians. I thought it was going to be super common in Romania, but seems to me that you guys have some interesting variety.

Goths and Gepids used to settle sporadically and migrate throughout the territory, so perhaps some stayed and got assimilated.

Who knows, but it's probably unlikely considering that in the past people were marrying mostly others of the same religion as them. Szekelys were Catholic, while Romanians Orthodox.

very nice, but put the average for the whole Romania as well, so that we can compare it with other sources, like Eupedia for instance.

    E1B here represents E-V13 ?

Is this E-V22 of European origin?

Those on Eupedia are also mine, so it will be identical with this one pretty much. I think I've got like 100 more samples since, so not much of a change.
