Speaking to Ukrainians - there are a lot of Ukrainians who works in our country and they understand Czech if they live here longer time.
Ca. 20 years ago I discussed with groups of Ukrainians working here, we spoke in Russian, together.
With Poles I usually speak in Czecho-Polish pidgin, influenced by Silesian dialects
I think it is easier for Poles from Silesia as for instance they call bucket - kibel, very similar to Czech kbelík. In standard Polish though kibel means the same as WC. On the other hand I have no idea how Silesians came up with hasiok that actually means bucket (in Polish wiadro).

In Czech exists a verb hasit, (hasit oheň) - to pour water to fire , and fireman is called hasič

Anyway kbelík sounds in some areas too hypercorect, or school-like term, and people says rather Kýbl or Kýbel

Maybe there is some common etymology here with this hasiok word, hasit oheň = gasić ogień, very similar.

You can use bucket to extinguish fire for instance.

I find it wierd when Slovak is speaking Czech to a Czech guy and vice versa, look so fake and wierd, we understand each other without any problems, Slovaks even easier since many movies are in CZ language in Slovakia.
