    Outside business and elite circles, they're more likely to understand Spanish than English.

    If hispanos speak slowly I am sure most of them can get it. I've been to Brazil 3 times, but I can speak perfect portuguese, most hispanos I've seen there only speak spanish, they don't even try.

    Yes, I imagine that, because portuguese and spanish language are very similar (I read that they share around 89% of similarity)
