I agree with you and not only in football, Croatian Tennis is also well known here.
I still remember that Davis Cup final in Zagreb, which Argentina won after incredible Del Porto preformance (I think he was losing 0-2 in sets of final match and still menaged to win)

    Nicolás Mihanovich

Nicolás Mihanovich (1846–1929) was a Croatian Argentine businessman closely linked to the development of the Argentine merchant marine. was born Nikola Mihanović in the Kingdom of Dalmatia, Austrian Empire, in what is today Croatia, in 1846. Self-educated, he arrived in Buenos Aires in 1868 and formed a partnership with two of his countrymen: Gerónimo Zuanich and Octavio Cosulich. Operating five steam ships by 1879, the group initiated scheduled transports from Buenos Aires to the then-remote outposts of Bahía Blanca and Carmen de Patagones. The new route's success led to the purchase of the 1,500-ton Watergeus, which received a materials transport contract from the rapidly expanding Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway, and to the 1887 establishment of the first ferry service between Buenos Aires and Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay).

Mihanovich would operate not only Latin America's largest shipping company, but also the region's premier shipyard, allowing the group to dispense with the outsourcing of repairs. The company began to issue stock and by 1907, the company's market capitalization reached 7 million gold pesos (Mihanovich's brother, Miguel, sons (Pedro y Nicolás) and other relatives remained majority stakeholders). British investors then quickly brought its capitalization to Ł2.1 million (US$10 million), leading to the company's registration in London as the Argentina Navigation Company - Nicolás Mihanovich Ltd. in 1909; the group, by then, had become a local monopoly of 350 steamers.

Mihanovich also joined German developer Otto Wulff in the construction of what became known as the Otto Wulff building. Completed in 1914, the Montserrat neighborhood landmark housed the Embassy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, by which Emperor Franz Joseph I named Mihanovich Honorary Consul and Edler in 1899. Later on the emperor granted him the title of Baron (Nikolaus Freiherr Mihanovich von Dolskidol) in 1912 with the right of transmission for his dedicated efforts towards the empire. He also received honours and decorations from others European monarchs, among them; the Cross of Second Order to Naval Merit and Alfonso XIII's Order from Alfonso XIII of Spain and The Order of Saint Stanislaus with stars from Czar Nicholas II of Russia.

    Davor Ivo Stier

Davor Ivo Stier (Croatian pronunciation: [dâvor ǐːvo ʃtîːr]; born 6 January 1972) is a Croatian Democratic Union politician and diplomat. He was a member of the Croatian Parliament in 2011–2013, a member of the European Parliament in 2013–2016, as well as the 13th Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia in 2016–2017.

    Family and studies
Stier was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and lived in the middle-class Flores district (the same of Pope Francis) in a Croatian expatriate family originating from Samobor. His paternal grandfather Ivan Stier was an Ustaše colonel and assistant to Vjekoslav Luburić who escaped to South America after World War II. His maternal grandfather, Milorad Lukač, was one of the leading emigrant politicians of the Croatian Peasant Party. Stier's father was a doctor and his mother Marija Lukač was a university professor.

Stier came to Croatia for the first time in 1990 at 18 as part of the Croatian Heritage Foundation program, and for the second time three weeks before the fall of Vukovar as a journalist for the Argentine newspaper El Cronista and Radio America. He returned to Argentina in February 1992, where he graduated in Political Science and International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, and later on in journalism.

    Matias Jurisich

The Adriatic Sea saw them born and Argentina unite. Maria Kleva was born on the island of Olib, off the coast of Zadar. And Mateo Yurisich in the same region, Croatian Dalmatia. And although we don't know exactly where his hometown was, he always said that he had come from Dubrovnik. Perhaps because it had been the port of departure, perhaps because it is a beautiful city.

They arrived in these lands at the end of the 19th century, long before the great immigration currents that populated Argentina. And they formed a family with nothing more and nothing less than eleven children. To those who recorded in a disastrous civil registry that gave them so many variations to the last name almost as registered son: Yurisich, Gjurisich, Llurisich and ours Jurisich.

From my great-grandfather Mateo to my grandfather Mateo and from there to my father Rubén Pedro, I inherit this surname of Slavic lineage that I carry with pride: Matias Pedro Jurisich.

I was born in Sarasa (Buenos Aires Province) and since 2003 I have lived in Rosario. I dedicated myself to gastronomy and its dissemination. After a first trip to Croatia in 2014, I discovered many facets that I did not understand where they came from because no tradition of the land was transmitted in my paternal family. Among them, the taste for the craftedpreparation of food and drinks.

In order to learn more and travel the land, I returned in 2018 and in the town of Metkovic, close to Hercegovina, I made my first artisan rakija distillation with the help of the Karamatic family. When I returned to Argentina I had an idea in mind: to do something “Domace”.
