Lord of the Rings Trilogy Thread

Just a place to talk about the films and future films regarding the three books. I am not the biggest fan but there is a lot of interesting stuff to talk about.

Currently re watching the trilogy, but first time watching the extended editions. My thoughts so far is that some of the added scenes are good like Saruman's scenes as he really was absent from the theatrical cuts leaving a lot of his personality and lore neglected.

I am big fan of films, consider them better than books, one of those rare cases (yes, I've read them) - books were bit too gloomy ad boorish for me, great nevertheless.
But films are top notch. Especially extended versions.

Do you think the casting was good, who would you re-cast if you had the choice? I would recast Arwen and Aragorn, maybe Legolas too. I think Viggo Mortensen is a boring and kind of piss poor actor for more serious and emotional roles. Orlando Bloom felt like he was trying to hard and kind of stuck out. I think that Liv Tyler was okay but she just didn't pop.

Yea I read the books before I saw the movies and I maybe like them more for nostalgia, I do like the movies though. I think the Fellowship was kind of meh, good but the action of the two second movies were really awesome. My biggest grievance is that the battles should have been longer (kind of hard to do in a story driven movie though). I am a fan of the movies for sure though let me reiterate that.

I thought this extended scene really paid a grain of justice to Saruman's character

Extended cut of Fellowship of the Ring might be the best movie of all time (in my opinion). This movie has the least amount of special effects of the trilogy too.

I skipped it but am gonna rewatch it this weekend. I wanted to watch the Two Towers first .

I didn't watch these females much, but I like Fassbender and especially Isaacs.
