I watched some of the video. Let me guess he is against square toe dress shoes ? Alot experts on this issue are so I just avoid them in order not to make a faux pas. Also, quality shoes makers such as Crockett and Jones, Alden and Allen Edmonds don't make square toe shoes so I avoid them.

Yes. I think they look bold and masculine. At least loafers. Maybe with laces it looks tacky?

I don't understand the general idea that Americans have that wearing classic men's style, that never goes out of fashion, is somehow not masculine. This is some kind of peasant mentality. I think dressing well is extremely masculine because since the style would be good in the year 1900 and the year 2050 (at least) that is totally masculine. Also, if you choose your clothes well , in the first place, then later on just about anything will go together in your wardrobe in large mathematical combination so it's easy not to think about what you are going to wear.

As far as shoes I'm not sure but I think square toe shoes are easier to manufacture so cheaper and generally of lower quality. For instance,

Are we? It's still not entirely clear to me whether de Burgh is arguing for simple neatness or fashion. The former, I'm all for. The latter is for the birds.
