Non-native English-speakers: how do you pronounce 'grass' and 'chance'?

Though as Creoda said on the other thread, many Welsh and Aussies will say 'grass' with a long 'ah' but 'chance' with a short 'a' (although those with more upper-middle class leanings in both countries will often use the long 'ah' in 'chance' as well).

Yeah but the 'short a' in Australia is not really a short a, chaance is as long as chahnce.
