Default Pay for the dinner at a friends house???

Weird japanese tradition of splitting the bill when invited to a friends home for dinner? https://soranews24.com/2018/03/08/a-...king-them-pay/

how is it in your country
? in Bosnia people would be shocked if someone asked them to pay for their part for all the ingrediens and food

I haven't heard about it. It is something that I'd rather expect from the Dutch.

This tradition is alien for my country.

That is completely unheard of here and would be seen as miserly/rude. Japanese culture is very strange and stoic

In Sweden they have "knytkalas" when everyone brings something with them, but thats something different..to be invited to dinner and be expected to pay is unheard even among them

Splitting the bill at an host house is not common or heard of in here. Deciding what each person will bring in to the host house is more common though, especially among young adults. Creating a list of everyone's favorite dishes, drinks and desserts and have each of your friends select one or more to bring. This is more common when you have a large dinner party with more than ten guests.

I think something like this is foreign to the western society or culture.

I've never heard of this tradition, I don't think it would ever happen where I'm from .

Iv'e heard about a similar tradition but in China, when a group of friends come together at ones place, they bring the ingredients to cook and drink together.
