Cults, Sects, Faiths always fighting etc...
So from a position of history this isn't something different.
Many Anatolians resisted hellenisation and hellenic faiths till they eventually failed
Many South Slavs who are actually Vlachs resisted Slavicization until they eventually failed.
By reading historical books you might think that Roman Empire actually was culturally and religiously unified, they were not,
it's just that those people were constantly fought with and were prosecuted. Cities were reserved for "chosen ones"
