Also if I'm not mistaken Germany have been more successful at continental level, dominating the European Championships, whereas the South American Championship was traditionally dominated by Argentina/Uruguay.

Brazil. Germany may have more SF appearances(13 to Brazil's 11) but Brazil are the most successful WC winning team at the end of the day and are the only nation on the planet to have appeared in every single WC tournament from 1930 onward.

Copa is very underrated tournament. Lot of great teams - Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay...excellent team like Mexico was invited many times and never won it.
But I must admit I am biased in favor of South American football. I simply prefer it to European. Not club level, but NT level. Love their style.

Nowadays Brazil is trash though, indeed. And like Creoda says it has been for a long time.
Downfall started at WC 2006 in Germany - for me last fantastic Brazilian team with pure talent which underarcheived.
