In Poland it is a region in north-eastern Poland called Podlasie. In English it is called Podlachia.

As a matter of fact it indeed less developed than other parts of Poland. And belief in superstitions, curses and witchcraft is widespread there, I am not kidding.

We have our Polish Mordor in Warsaw btw but it is called like that for different reasons. I think they even want to rename this part of the capital with it. It is a district where mostly office blocks lie and corporate rats are found in abundance hence Mordor.

Mordor is actually used as a name in Warsaw.
