GERMAN MENSUR

In the German speaking countries there are "nationalist fraternities" at Universities. And they practice sword fight, they "mature" with the MENSUR that means they fight with a sword and got a cut on their face. Then they are full members or "matured".

I look like as if I had the MENSUR, I wanted to share that because it is cool and badass. Eventhough I was never and Im not member of a german fraternity, and my cut on my upper right eye lid is from the turkish barber not from the MENSUR.

Cool as fuck though

My dad was a fencer and gymnast. He put away his fencing equipment away, before he married my mom; but, he continued with gymnastics, in his 50s and early 60s.

My dad taught me, and my siblings the basics about fencing, but he spent a great deal more time teaching us gymnastic skills and swimming.

He had fencing equipment that he let us use. He told us about an age old European tradition of using salt on wounds (especially in the German Tradition), to give notice of a fencer's seasoned experience.

He could easily do headstands, and (at 50 years old) he was still able to walk on his hands over the diving board, at the swimming pool.

In my early 20s, I did two years of serious fencing lessons, from a fencing master at UCSC. But, I haven't been fencing for a very long time.
