Very much agree. I associate eastern Europe with huge lowlands too. But than, Wallachia fits that description and you don't consider them eastern Euro.
Area from Netherlands and north Germany to Poland is part of northern european plain also.

Because Romania geographically is not really Balkan, people, yes, are very balkan, especially in Wallachia. You have Hungary, who is very similar, entire country is basically a big plain.
