I'm 20, and still haven't lost it.
But to be frank, I really am not even trying at all. If it comes, it comes, so be it. Sex shouldn't be a big deal, especially if you're not planning to have children

I thought I would lose it around 16. I had preliminaries for the first time at 13 and penetration for the first time at 15. Not proud of the age, but happy that it was with a person I actually liked, so there was no pressure or awkwardness involved.

16, which was before "the parent talk" but could have been even earlier. I think it was the right time and the right person. Looking back i feel it would have been sad to not experience that with your first love, it's just gonna make you frustrated and carry that dead weight around.
For women it's a bit different i guess nowadays as it's getting valued again as a reaction to the world. Personally i never thought about it being something positive with any girlfriend i had, i think i was even more "scared" for them being a virgin than not. There is something normal in between being a virgin and a whore, just a regular person.

I feel like a lot of us are realizing how destructive the devaluation of virginity was, and it didn't take very long at all to realize that, yes, virginity is important and sacred for women. I'll always encourage the girls in my life to stay pure before it's too late. You don't want to give in too soon, and end up losing the opportunity to have valuable experiences with the person you actually love. It really is like losing a part of yourself, for women, at least. It changes who you are as a person, and opens you up to a terrifying side of yourself which would have never been released, had you remained pure.
