China has been ramping up pressure on the Philippines over the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea. And after the US abandoned the Philippines, despite a mutual defense treaty, the Philippines, and its new president Rodrigo Duterte, felt closer ties with China was the only way to go. But with the US now pushing back against China and the Chinese Communist Party, and sending US navy warships through the South China Sea, will the Philippines turn back to its US allies in a South China Sea conflict?
