A $65 billion nuclear fusion reactor called ITER is being constructed in southern France. A collaboration of 35 countries, the ITER TOKAMAK will test the feasibility of nuclear fusion for future power generation. If it succeeds, ITER could transform how we obtain energy, allowing us to reproduce the process which keeps stars burning for billions of years. However, if nuclear fusion is to change the world, a series of innovations must be made and a list of problems solved.
