Hmmm that statement is highly debatable. Spain only really lost Mexico because of the French invasion of Spain and it's effects on their military. The Mexican War of Independence wasn't a great success and the majority of the leaders were killed. Also the Mexican Empire was a disaster and it's subsequent leadership of Santa Anna cost Mexico major losses of land like Texas and California. The Mexicans didn't really have a military victory until the Spaniards attempted to reconquer New Spain which they were fairly successful in destroying all the Mexican ports. Also like The Bolivarian Revolution, the leadership was still Spanish, just not loyal to Spain. Mexico is still heavily led by Spanish elites.

Indeed, Mexico got its independence but not via militari. They were defeated as fuck and in any case it were spaniards vs spaniards.

It seems incredible to me that it is an American who knows all this, and not the typical Mexican mestizo like OP...

Also during the Spanish attempt at reconquest they lost 90% of their dead to disease not to combat. They only lost about 200-300 in combat
